Festive papercrafts made easy: Create holiday magic with your Brother printer
Looking for a fun, creative project to do with the kids and add a splash of holiday cheer to your home?
What you’ll need
- Brother Printer (we recommend the Brother DCP-J1200W or similar model)
- Printable Templates (download from Brother Creative Center)
- A4 or Letter-sized cardstock (up to 220GSM for durability)
- Scissors or craft knife
- Glue stick or double-sided tape
- Optional: Decorative extras like glitter, stickers, or metallic pens
Step 1: Download and print your template
Start by visiting Brother Creative Center online [LINK TO BE ADDED TO CREATIVE CENTER PROJECT ONCE LIVE]. Browse the holiday section for templates such as the Santa Express Train, Christmas Scene, or Advent Calendar. Download your chosen design along with its instruction sheet for easy reference.
When printing, select high-quality color settings and use sturdy cardstock (up to 220 GSM) for a professional finish. This ensures vibrant colors and a craft that holds its shape.
Step 2: Cut out the pieces
Once printed, carefully cut along the solid lines of each component. For intricate details like windows, ornaments, or curved edges, a craft knife will give you cleaner results than scissors.
Step 3: Fold and score
Fold along the dotted or dashed lines indicated on the template. For crisp, neat folds, use the edge of a ruler or a scoring tool. This step is key to making your craft look polished and sturdy.
Step 4: Assemble your design
- For a Train: Glue the tabs to form the engine and carriages, then attach wheels and decorative panels.
- For a Tree: Layer and glue the sections to create a 3D effect, then add ornaments or glitter.
- For an Advent Calendar: Assemble the base and attach numbered pockets or boxes for treats.
- Extras: Add festive elements like stars, gifts, or reindeer for extra holiday charm.
Step 5: Display your creation
Arrange your completed craft on a mantelpiece, as a table centerpiece, or even under the Christmas tree for a magical display. Advent calendars can be hung on a wall or placed on a shelf for easy access.
Tips for a perfect finish
- Print on matte cardstock for vibrant colors and durability.
- Add glitter or metallic stickers for extra sparkle.
- For sturdier designs, mount them on a cardboard base.
