As part of our ongoing commitment to the environment we've teamed-up with pioneering rainforest sustainability charity - Cool Earth. We’re working with Cool Earth to protect part of the Amazon rainforest in Peru. In doing this we are helping the local communities to protect the trees, which will allow endangered wildlife to thrive in its natural habitat. Rainforest destruction has a massive impact on climate change and our partnership will also help to reduce CO2 emissions by keeping carbon safely locked away in the trees.
We’ve launched an Eco-Rewards initiative and are encouraging customers in Europe to use our free return and recycle scheme for consumables. In return we’ll sponsor the protection of trees in the Peruvian Amazon. Our environmental returns programme runs throughout Europe to ensure the responsible disposal and recycling of used Brother ink and toner cartridges and drums. We have pledged that for every four toner cartridges or every eight inkjet cartridges returned we’ll save one tree.
